About Goddesses
What comes to your mind when you think of a goddess?  Perhaps you relate the word "goddess" to a beautiful woman who is popular and very sexy.  That is certainly one definition or concept of a goddess.  You will also hear about goddess in the study or reading of mythology.

If you look up "goddess" in the dictionary, you might find something like this:
1. a female god or deity.
2. a woman of extraordinary beauty and charm.
3. a greatly admired or adored woman.

You might also find:
1. A female being of supernatural powers or attributes, believed in and worshiped by a people.
2. A female being believed to be the source of life and being and worshiped as the principal deity in various religions.
3. An image of a female supernatural being; an idol.
4. Something, such as fame or wealth, that is worshiped or idealized.
5. A woman of great beauty or grace.

So as you can see, there are a number of concepts associated with the word "goddess."  A goddess is not something or someone you have to worship, and I certainly don't as that would go against my personal beliefs -- but some may hold differing beliefs or faith than myself, so some do worship goddesses.

My personal definition of goddess energy is "feminine wisdom" that comes from within.  I feel that our goddess energy gives us strength and guidance when we allow ourselves to listen.  You could even call this "goddess intuition" if you wanted.  The goddess within you makes you just as good as any other human being in this world -- no better, but certainly no less.  It makes you an equal to others.  It's what makes you beautiful on the inside!

You do not have to hold to any particular religion, faith, or spirituality to enjoy a goddess reading.  Goddess can mean to you whatever you will have it mean on a personal level . . . but it's certainly meant to be something good, beautiful, and powerful within you.  It's the feminine wisdom that you hold . . . and something that can empower you in wonderful ways.

You will find goddesses in ancient mythology, and using those historical archetypes is useful to women of today in understanding their present reality and concerns.  Goddess information can offer women new paths of self-discovery, personal development, and a fulfilling direction.  Discovering your personal goddess influences is the discovery of your own personal and precious inner guide.  We need to follow the tune of our own life story . . . and not the story directed by others.  This kind of understanding offered by goddess lore can guide us to make conscious choices that will have personal meaning and be fulfilling for each of us individually.

Understanding goddess energy leads to self-awareness about yourself, your relationships, your parenting methods, and your inner urges in your self-expression and creativity.  It helps you discover your true nature and your true self.  You are able to get in touch with your innate gifts and abilities.  And although I talk about the value that goddesses have for women, learning about the significant goddess qualities and energy has value for both women and men.

Goddess types can help you recognize where you are best suited in life, and they can help you appreciate your strengths as well as understand the areas in life that are challenging for you.  We all have certain goddess energy within us that will draw us toward certain people while finding other types to be less appealing in terms of friends, lovers, or other associations.

As women, we have a combination of Goddess types within us.  These mythic images can guide us to see who we are and what we might become.  Understanding these images within ourselves helps to nurture growth within us.

The concept of "archetype" comes from Carl Jung's work in psychology, and it refers to deep enduring patters of thought and behavior in the psyche.  Archetypes form the basis for all unlearned, instinctive patterns of behavior.  Archetypes can be found in dreams, art and mythology, and literature.  They are communicated to us through symbols.  Goddess types represents models of behavior and ways of being that women share and recognize from the collective unconscious.

In the psychology of women, the feminine goddess archetypes are still alive today.  Depending on which energies are more pronounced, these archetypes influence a woman's personality with a distinct character, way of being, and a way of relating to the world.

Additionally, certain goddess types may be more apparent in a woman's life at various stages.  For example, a woman in her early twenties may relate to a particular goddess more so than she will ten years later.  Certain goddess energies can be more pronounced at different periods in one's life.  When a woman reaches the stage of the "empty nest" with her own children grown and having moved on, this can create a very conflicting type of energy within her.  She feels pulled between two very different goddess desires at the same time.  The different goddess aspects offers a language for understanding these life stages as well as keys to working with the inner conflicts that are experienced in the various stages of one's life.

Goddess energy is inspiring and empowering.  Let's talk about inspiration and self-empowerment:

Inspiration
It brings a magical moment where you know what you want to do or create next.  To inspire is to breathe life into something which is meaningful to you.

When most people think of inspiration, they usually connect it to a creative endeavor.  But there is even more to the magic of inspiration.  It opens us to possibilities beyond what our rational mind can perceive.  It can even take the form of intuition -- that "knowing" within you, or that hunch or gut feeling you get.

When you are inspired, you are also more flexible in your thinking.  You have the ability to "think outside the box" to find a solution to a problem when there appears to be none.  Flexible thinking allows us to be receptive to possibilities, to listen before we act.  It helps us to bend instead of break when confronted with adversity.

Goddesses have been honored through the ages for their capacity to encourage inspiration -- the very essence that can help us transform our lives . . . even in ways that can seem magical.  Goddess readings provides information unique to your situation -- similar to other oracles or Tarot.   What you decide to do with that information is always up to you.

Understanding your personal goddess energy is an instrument for inviting the inspiration of the Divine Feminine into your life when you most need it.

Self-empowerment
While most people are eager to do or receive a reading for purposes of guidance, many are also interested in learning about the possibilities of the future.  I use "possibilities" with intention here, because nothing is never set in stone.  The future is always fluid.  Things can change.  While an oracle can reveal what may lie ahead in the future, our actions in the present continuously affect it.  Thus, if you receive an outcome that feels discouraging to you, it's important for you to find a way to create change in the present . . . so that you can work on the issue and very possibly change the actual outcome into something more pleasing.

Take responsibility for your future.  Predictive readings should be considered a reflection of the moment -- like a "snapshot" in time.  They can suggest what we need to do, but like all other oracles, they cannot guarantee a specific outcome even when one is provided in the reading.  And as we know, life holds no guarantees for us on any level.
